FAQS

Most frequently asked Questions:
We are sorry to hear that you have tested positive for Covid-19. If you send us proof of a positive lateral flow test to [email protected], we will assist you in swapping your booking.
A good question! No… you do not require a ticket! In fact, we actively encourage you to make the most of our food and drink offerings at the venue, regardless of whether you have a cinema ticket. We don’t take table bookings, but you’re welcome to rock up within our opening hours if you fancy somewhere different to enjoy a drink or two! Good vibes guaranteed!
When we open a new experience, the opening week will consist of ‘preview shows’. They are essentially the same, but they allow us to decide whether we need to make any small tweaks to the experience (you probably wouldn’t notice these changes, but they make a big difference for our team operationally). Due to this, you’ll notice that ticket prices remain the same across all seats, and are at a slightly reduced rate.
Unfortunately we are unable to offer refunds on any tickets purchased. Please note that exchanges are only valid if you contact us within 5 days of making your booking, or if you are unable to attend due to showing symptoms of Covid-19. If you have tested positive for Covid-19 please send proof to [email protected] The 5 day cooling off period is not permitted when you have booked for a show within the next 7 days. Please bear this in mind.  Backyard Cinema cannot be held responsible for late arrival to the venue, or any travel/accommodation arrangements. We advise customers to arrive at the venue at least 60 minutes ahead of their film start time. Please bear this in mind when making travel arrangements… it’s better to be early than be late!   If you wish to enquire about exchanging your tickets please head to the See Tickets Customer Service portal HERE, then sign in using your reference number and postcode/telephone number.   If you don’t have these details to hand, then please use the ‘Forgotten your details?’ option and enter the email address used when booking. Once signed in, you can submit a ticketing enquiry using See’s contact form. We strongly advise using the contact form rather than live chat. It makes it easier for their team to track any previous correspondence.   Please allow 3 working days for a response. If the date of your booking passes, See Tickets will still be able to assist you as long as your initial contact was in advance of your show. Alternatively, you are able to pass your tickets to a friend or family member. If you do sell your tickets, you will not need to change the name on the tickets… please just ensure the attendee has a digital copy of all correspondence and is aware of the full name/reference number on the tickets and is aware of the seat numbers booked.

Absolutely, Capital Studios is fully accessible. The venue has wheelchair accessible toilets, accessible lift and a dedicated team on site who are available to assist throughout your visit. Please contact us in advance of your show so that we can make sure you get the best experience possible.

Our general advice would be to book aisle seats toward the back of our screening areas (entry to our screens are at the back of the cinema rather than the front). If you have any concerns or questions surrounding this, please contact [email protected] in advance of booking tickets for further assistance and advice.

Additionally, we offer carers tickets free of charge – when booking your chosen date, please use the code CARERTICKET before selecting your seats. Each Carers ticket will need to be purchased with at least one other full price ticket. When arriving on the day, we will ask to see a valid CEA or PIP letter, or an Access Card as evidence of providing personal care – if you are unable to provide this, we may refuse you entry or ask you to pay the full admission price for that section.
There is no venue-dedicated parking, unfortunately. NCP Wandsworth Southside 1 & 2 are in close proximity to Capital Studios:

NCP Wandsworth Southside 2 | 0.2 miles from Capital Studios*

*Opening times for both car parks vary and are subject to change. Please check ahead of travel to decide which will be your preferred option.

We’re a 10 minute walk from Wandsworth Town station, which is served by South Western Railway and has direct connections with Waterloo, Vauxhall and Clapham Junction stations. Alternatively, you can take the District Line to East Putney station, from which we’re a 20 minute walk from, or a 10 minute bus journey; taking the number 337 or 37 from East Putney (Stop EA) to Armoury Way (Stop E).
Please note that Backyard Cinema’s Christmas Extravaganza is not at our home venue (Capital Studios), it’s at Troxy in East London.

No hot food is available at Troxy. Instead, think popcorn, sweets, ice cream, mince pies and a fully stocked bar!
Not a problem! Troxy has a lost property department who you can contact on [email protected].

Any unclaimed items will be taken to local charity shops after two weeks. Items such as wallets, passports, and driving licences will be held for a longer period but will eventually be passed on to the police or relevant issuing authority.
Troxy is a cash free venue. Cash will not be accepted at any of their bars or box office, so be sure to bring along a card!
Refunds are not permitted. If you are unable to attend due to Covid-19, please get in touch with [email protected] who will be able to assist you with exchanging your tickets into an alternative date.
From the date of purchase you are subject to a 5-day cooling off period, during which you can freely exchange your booking into a new show with availability. So, if you made an error in your booking, all you need to do is get in touch with the ticketing provider ([email protected]) and they will be able to assist.

Please note that the 5-day cooling off period is not applicable if the booking is made for a show within the next 7 days.

If you are unable to attend your booking due to yourself or a member of your party testing positive for Covid-19, please also contact [email protected] for further assistance.
Backyard Cinema is taking-over East London’s Troxy this Holiday Season and transforming it into the ultimate Christmas Movie Palace. Bringing you a Double Feature of non-stop singing, dancing, music and performance followed by an iconic Christmas movie of your choice.

This fast-moving celebration of the festive season is bound to get you on your feet and bring you closer together. Join us on a journey of festive nostalgia through the eyes of award winning musical wordsmith George the Poet. With a season of iconic Christmas movies to choose from and live music performances of the movie soundtracks performed by the Some Voices choir. The only way to celebrate Christmas in London this Winter.
We highly recommend that you use public transport when travelling to Troxy.

If you have no other option but to drive, there is a 24-hour car park next to Cineworld at West India Quay, run by Indigo Park Services. From there, you can get a taxi or catch the DLR at West India Quay (two stops). The nearest hotel, the Holiday Inn Express at Limehouse, is just 300 metres away and has secure parking. We recommend booking in advance at JustPark who also have other options, as do Your Parking Space.
Troxy is located in East London, a mere 15 minutes from central London’s Waterloo station.

For more information on how to find the venue, please visit HERE.

For a quick route plan, use Citymapper or Transport for London.

I feel ya buddy, the bar will be open throughout the screening.
Absolutely! We have a food court with perfect patties and rosemary chips from Honest Burgers, plus our very own Backyard Pizza. We don’t take table bookings for food/drink but there’s plenty of space to enjoy your pre or post film feast.
Afraid not, although you will be delighted to know we have a range of traditional cinema snacks on offer as well as a fully licensed bar selling beer, wine, cocktails and soft drinks.

If you have any specific allergies that require you to bring your own food, please head to our contact page HERE and use our contact form ahead of your booking so that we can advise our operations team accordingly.
All you need to do is ask our friendly box office team on arrival, and they’ll able to assist you!

Although our venue absolutely welcomes under 18’s, the lead party member must be at least 18 years of age. If your group looks under 25, our team will likely ask for a member of your group to provide some ID.

If you fail to provide this, you will  be refused entry to the venue – there are no exceptions to this rule, unfortunately. Refunds for tickets will not be permitted in this instance.

Please note that age ratings for films apply regardless, so if you’re coming to see a film rated 15… no one under this age can attend and you will be refused entry if you are unable to provide ID as proof of age. Please check out the BBFC website for more information on age ratings if you’re unsure: https://www.bbfc.co.uk
A common question! Both are equally as marvellous (and child friendly, by the way), but we recommend you check them out on their respective pages… this will give you the best idea of what they’re all about.

The Winter Night Garden

The Snow Kingdom

We love to surprise and delight our audience at Backyard Cinema, so we won’t give too much away!
Unfortunately, Covid caused some closures of our venue over the last year (boo!) Many of our audience opted for credit on their booking so that they could rebook when they felt ready to return to the cinema. Since last year, prices for our Winter Experiences at Backyard Cinema have risen slightly (due to some exciting new additions), meaning that we unfortunately are unable to easily transfer your booking straight into this year’s shows.

Fear not! The quickest way for us to sort this is for you to rebook tickets for either The Winter Night Garden or The Snow Kingdom this year, then quickly provide your new reference number to See Tickets using the contact form on their Customer Service portal, here. They can then refund your original order in full (this includes any add-ons you may have purchased at the time).

We apologise for any inconvenience this may cause, but this is the best way to make sure that you don’t miss out on this year’s Winter/Christmas adventures at Backyard Cinema… tickets can sell out fast!
Voucher codes that have been obtained from See Tickets (due to a cancelled booking/lockdown) will only work when applied at the final stage of the booking process (on the payment page).

If you try to use this code on the seat picker page, it will not work. We recommend giving it another go on this page, and if it still doesn’t work, please get in touch with us via our contact form for further assistance.
All seats at our venue are our signature beanbags!

The main difference in our seats is the location within the screening area.

Super Premium seats offer the best seats in the house and have a headrest.

Premium seats are located just outside of this area and Stalls/Standard seats occupy the remainder.

You can see the screen from all seats, but as with most cinemas, it depends on your personal preference!

Yes of course – please contact the See Tickets customer service team using their customer service portal HERE ahead of your booking date by using the contact form.

To speed things up, we would advise that you rebook your desired tickets, and provide your new reference number to See via the portal linked above. They can then refund your original order.

Please allow 3 working days for a response. If the date of your booking passes, See Tickets will still be able to assist you as long as your initial contact was in advance of your show, so don’t worry!

If you’re showing symptoms of COVID-19 or live with someone that is, please do not attend the venue, and use the same process for exchanging if you can.

We certainly do! All you need to do to claim your 25% off discount is enter the code THANKYOUNHS in the discount code box located above the ticket options. Make you sure to do this before selecting your tickets otherwise the discount will not appear. You must only apply the discount to the relevant tickets.

You will then just need to show your NHS ID card along with your ticket when you get to the Box Office.

Please note that NHS discount must be applied at the time of purchase and cannot be refunded once the booking has been made.
We do indeed! Head to the purchase page for more information.
At current, we’ll only be accepting contactless payments for food and drinks throughout the venue, in order to minimise human interaction and possible contact. So remember to bring your contactless card with you!
Sure, we love kids! We offer kid’s tickets for under 12s, and babies younger than 18 months don’t require a ticket. You will need to check the rating of the film, and obviously, they won’t be allowed to drink alcohol – our bar staff will be checking ID all night. We love seeing kids watching old classics like The Goonies, or Back to the Future for the first time.

Please note that anyone under the age of 18 must be accompanied by an adult.
All you need to do is ask our friendly box office team on arrival, and they’ll able to assist you!
No, we fully encourage you to protect the trees and keep your tickets on your smart device, where a member of our Box Office team will scan your ticket from your device on arrival.
Not to worry! If you have your booking reference number, head to www.seetickets.com/customerservice, where you can download your tickets directly to any device. If you do not have your reference to hand please head to the same See Tickets page, and enter your email address in the forgotten details section.
To book tickets, you can either hit the ‘What’s On’ link at the top of our webpage, or alternatively you can browse by specific experience.

Super Premium are our best seats in the house and have a head rest. Premium seats are located just outside of this area, and Stalls/Standard occupy the remainder.

Everyone will be seated on our signature giant bean bags. If you have any special requirements please make us aware well in advance so that we can ensure you have the best experience possible.

Please note that all ticket prices are for single admission, so please ensure you select the correct quantity of tickets based on the group size you have selected.

Your e-ticket(s) will be emailed to you within 24 hours of your purchase. Keep these safe and bring them with you, preferably on a smartphone or digital device. NB: All tickets must be checked & exchanged at our Box Office on arrival.
All tickets need to be pre-purchased online through our website – the one you’re on now! Simply select the theme you’re interested in from the ‘What’s On’ menu, choose your film and select which ticket option is best for you. More details around selecting the best ticket option for you can be found in the next FAQ below.

The Winter Night Garden

The Snow Kingdom

We love to surprise and delight our audience at Backyard Cinema, so we won’t give too much away!
We advise our audience to aim to arrive 60-90 minutes ahead of their film starting, so hopefully this won’t be the case! Doors to your pre-show experience will close 30 minutes prior to your film starting, so we advise planning ahead to arrive well in advance of that to avoid problems if you’re running behind.

Please note that once the film starts, that you may be refused entry to your screening entirely (depending on the location of your seats) or held back to enter at a particular moment to avoid the disruption of other guests. Backyard Cinema cannot be held responsible for guests’ travel or accommodation arrangements and are therefore unable to refund bookings where a customer misses part or all of the experience due to lateness.
Unfortunately not! Live Music features every Friday and Saturday evening in our Studio Bar. Remember, you don’t need a cinema ticket to come and enjoy the good vibes. We have a fully stocked bar as well as a variety of hot food and snacks on offer. Come and join us!

Think you’ve left something at our venue, or lost something during your visit? Our team completes a full sweep of the space after each show and we will hold on to lost property for a limited period of time. Please use our contact form here to get in touch with our team.
Dogs are welcome in our bar and yard area, but unfortunately they cannot be taken into our experience or screening areas.
There is an allocated smoking area outside of the cinema. If you want to smoke you can pop outside – just make sure you keep hold of your ticket so you can come and go as you like.
While dressing up as a character from the film is always welcomed (and encouraged!), there is no enforced dress code.
This will of course vary depending on what you have elected to see! Please check the run time of your film (stated on the website) if you are concerned about your homebound journey. A quick web search of the run time of your film is always an easy way to check, too!
At current, we’ll only be accepting contactless payments for food and drinks throughout the venue, in order to minimise human interaction and possible contact. So remember to bring your contactless card with you!

Once you have received your Backyard Cinema passes, you will prepare to enter your show. Remember, we have lots of surprises up our sleeves, so don’t be late! We strongly advise arriving at least 60-90 minutes before your show start time.
